The published line each indicator is measured against
The level at which an indicator counts as having signalled, taken from the literature or the publisher and printed on every indicator page.
Every indicator with a status carries one threshold: the Sahm rule's 0.50 points, the Basel Committee's 10-point credit gap, the OECD's 100 line. Where no established rule exists, worldstat.us states its own construction and the reasoning. Some thresholds are relative to the series' own history, such as fifteen percent above the twelve-month low, and some require persistence, such as three months of inversion.
The five states follow from the threshold: Normal, Watch (within one step, or across but not yet for long enough), Triggered, Post-trigger (crossed and returned within six months), and Context for series that have no threshold at all.
