What it is

The one-year loan prime rate, the benchmark for new bank loans in China, fixed on the 20th of each month from quotes by eighteen banks and published by the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. Since 2024 the People's Bank has steered it through its seven-day reverse repo rate. Shown for context; it has no threshold. Points are the monthly fixings.

Known weaknesses

A lending benchmark rather than an overnight policy rate, so it moves in steps of five or ten basis points and only when the PBoC wants a signal.
