India's policy interest rate

The rate at which the Reserve Bank of India lends overnight to banks against government securities; its main policy rate.

The repo rate is set by the RBI's six-member Monetary Policy Committee at six meetings a year. It was raised to 6.50 % in February 2023 and cut in steps from February 2025 to 5.25 % in December 2025. worldstat.us uses it as the short end of India's yield-curve indicator, since no free daily short-tenor yield exists.
