What it is

The ONS monthly estimate of real GDP, expressed as the latest three months against the previous three. The UK is the only large economy with a monthly GDP series.

Known weaknesses

Monthly GDP is revised, sometimes by half a point, as quarterly accounts arrive. Strikes and bank holidays move single months.
